Now reading at the second article “This is Water” by David Foster Wallace I noticed something similar with the other article that I had read and it was that both articles tell us a story or something that literally anyone in the world can connect so the reader could get hooked and then give by the end his opinion and personal tip to the reader just like in the other article. So when I saw this pattern I was expecting that the third article we had to read was similar so the funny thing is that I had already heard the last text we had to read since it was “You've got to find what you love” the speech of Steve jobs when he graduated Stanford. And I can tell you that since the first time I heard that speech until know I may have heard some part of the speech in presentations or read it in articles but I still got exactly hooked as the first time. So when I started asking myself what was it that made me get so hooked I found out that the reason was that Jobs starts off with story’s that even if you know how they are and how they go you can hear them again because you are able to put yourself in Jobs shoes. It is exactly as seeing an episode of you favorite series that you have watched 1 million times since you can put yourself in the characters shoes and think exactly like the character you can watch it as many times as you want!
But why is making your speeches or articles so easy to put anyone’s shoes make them interesting? Simple, its because we are all human and whether we like it or not we all have emotions, joy, laughter, anger, jealousness and no tolerance for some things. So the key to a good presentation, speech or article is make the reader connect and be easy to the reader to put himself in your shoes.
